week 8, i think im not sure, just like the void time to me has no longer any concept. But I must say that the Theatre Night at The Opera was so much fun, a great way to start the holidays. Gemma was a great host, and I must say i loved her accent(even if steph was the only person to keep up her accent LOL)
Now were to begin???
Audio
I think it has helped the class being able to hear some of the current ideas for audio, and it also gives a great feeling to see how audio fits well with the acting, but there is also a down side as well. Ketus audio track has been selected but watching him act and seeing how he acts i think we need to cut the audio track so there is no vocal at all. this meens we find a longer trak for Ketu or we edit it so it repeats. I can do this through Nero WAVE so it should be easy, and that meens that Ketus Audio is DONE. YAYAYAY
I have also listened to the other CD that Cooper gave me and its been really good, there are two track in it that could be used for maybe Sophie and also a track that could be used for a genral track for the Void. I also have found a Heart beat file so we now have heart beats YAYAYA, and that just leaves us with ALEX and NIA. I am not sure wat song they should have just yet, but i keep coming back to Natural Anthem by the postal service.
Anyway these are just my ideas, Josh will have his own so it will be really good to come back from the holidays and collabirate ideas and hear what Josh has envisioned for each of the charecter, and create a mix of ideas to leave us with a complete show.
SET CONSTRUCTION
YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY
I am so Happy, set construction has started. After constructing our first panel we had to change how we made it, as we had hassles with the first panle. The first panle fell apart so many times(ok only 2 times) and cooper hurt himself, and i hammered my hand so there were a few issues, but i will talk about that later, i am off
Will finish when i get back. Hope You all Have a Good Holliday.
PEACE

ok a short blog for me this week, or at least i will try to keep it short. But like aways i must tell me one random tangent for the blog. I have found my fave song, it is OMFG it is so good. It is called the Beauty in Ugly, by Jason Mraz DOWNLOAD IT!!!!!! Ok now on focus, let us begin.
Set Design/ Construction
Ok set design is pretty much over, I have my set diarama/model fiinished and handed in, woot, and now we move on to the boxes. I am proud to be able to say that the boxes are done, yay.
Tasha was a godsend with these boxes. She solved all the problems. I have been looking at it the wring way, saying we need 3 big boxes and 1 small, but that is impractical and looked odd. So now tasha comes up with the idea of having only 2 big boxes and 2 small cubes that when put together make up a big box. woot, yay.
The boxes are also most likely going to be white, so costume and lighting how does that affect you??? Tasha and I are not 100% set on white boxes, but we spoke about it and did not think black would be ok, and grey is to neutral. So we are thinking white, with just maybe a hint of grey. not sure but just thoughts.
I also had a goo at some of the diifferent texture effects, sponging is ok, when u get the hang of it and it also enables us to layer colours, and marbling is a bit harder than thought. But it could give a good affect if mixed with maybe another techinque.
Audio
Audo took more of a main focus this week, with me and Josh having a semi meeting, for the want of a different word.
We sat down and just spoke about what each of us have been up, and what things we should add to our portfolios. I now have a compleat sound track of the play, that shows what noises will be made by the cast, and what noises will be using audio files, such as heartbeat, clock ticking and london night.
I also went through josh’s cd analysising each track and highlighting what was usefull and what was not. Out of the CD i am left with 5 tracks that are possible, and another 6 that were useless. so I have now been spending the rest of the week trying to find other songs for people. Ketu I think i may ahve found his songs its from Mr Coopers CD from Thiland.
I will also spend the rest of the week end listening to the CD’s Cooper gave me and analysing them for potential track, as i still need to find Alex, Nia and Shopie songs, as the songs I had such as “Natural Anthem” and “Sleeping In” no longer suite the feel i am trying to creat.
General.
Really not much else to say, except i really like the 100 smoke poster, and that buraks farmhouse PRODUCTIONS logo I really like the font of it, maybe we could try different colours for the squares, just a thought. But i really like it, Oh … and … um there was something else, ah yes um I over heard the lighting team when i was doing audio and i really like how they were talking about how each charecter has certain colours, it looks good, and also helps me futher visualise(or audiolise) the songs i want for each charecter.

OK so wat to say about the week, I will keep this short as im feeling sick, and sore from dancing. I danced for one song and ended up just damaging my leg futher.
Set Design/Construction
OK so not much really to say tasha and me had yet another meeting regarding sets and the boxes. Tasha brought up this amazing idea of having the boxes like arubix cubes, symbolic of the void. For some they are easy, just like passing the void, or hard for others, just like the void. Now i know it would not suite the void but its a good idea.
I also spent time looking at the different paint effects that could be put into place for painting of the set, I think a mix of marbling and sponging would look ok. I really dont want to have just a matt texture set it will be boring and bland and just plain bad. Also with the effects on top of the light we can get some really cool texturall effects and create a great lighting sceam for the overall play.
over all another productive week, and i think the set modle that i brought in helped the class, I hope it did, it took me so so long to compleate, and it still needs a few things added, Oh and why I remeber the set got a big boost from the school musical. THANKS COOPER.
Audio
A slow week for audio, I started to go through Josh’s CD and anotate the different songs and the certain key points for the play, like track one has a erie dark begining piano acordian that we think could be used for Alex’s memory, and then it goes into vocal and then into a techno drum, that could suite Ketu’s memories.
The next big thing for me to do is start putting these audio selections into play in teh rehersal of each scene. So that is my goal for the weeks to come, and also to try and find some other songs, as not all of the cd are usefull, such as the bagpipe song.
Generall
Well Happy Birthday Cooper, we had coopers birthday and got to eat cake and jelly beans and steamers and balloons and sparklers and candles and all that fun stuff.
Oh and i was so happy with the production meeting we had, it was good hearing all the other aspects of the show, and it was really good to see the farmhouse PRODUCTION logo (most will get why i spelt it like that) and to see what is happening. and one last note i went to IKEA today and found out that they sell fabrics who would have thought, anyway I got some ideas on how to set up things and also brought back a fabric sache and will give it to beth or teigan on monday, its just a basic unbleached white,  1.6m 5$ p/m. just an idea for costume.
Have a good week all and see you on monday.

Ok so a rather good week, when reflecting. I think, well i know I HEART Jordan (d/w matt only as a friend).
This week seems rather short, as there was not that much to happen. It’s amazing how much time flys when your not being interupted by captain things or S.A.C’s. Anyway thats another thing lets get into my blog for the week.
SET DESIGN
ok set design is slowing down in one aspect, and yet in another it is speeding up. The concept that I have finished designing is were I want it to be, It has reached my end. BUT this does not meen it has finished, quite the oppisite. We will now move into another stage were tasha and I colaberate the ideas we both have and ultimatly end up with a joint finished set.
This week howere i did find my way down in the tech rooms speaking to the wood work teacher. this was not the greatest experience, but it had to be done. We spent about half an hour working out the frame structure and if it was actully possible to make an “ARC” for the back of the stage. after this meeting we left with instructions on how to make the “ARC” and myself, and i hope Jordy felt rather pleased. I know we spoke about the fact that we both feel that the production is coming on and so is the set. Anyway that was settled, until we (Jordy and I) realised the “ARC was backward. So that plan from the tech department is not actually useful. But I am keeping that design as I will use it for my folio. Anyway after going to Bunnings and speaking to them we sorted it out it will be made in two part (as to allow for movment) and it will be now made from a box-cresent frame-PINE, and will then be covered-3mm MDF, as it has enough give to bend.
The next part of SET DESIGN that was undertaken this week was BOXES. I HATE BOXES, well hates a strong word. The idea that i had in my head sort of no longer works, due to directors ideas being different. so I think we now need 3 big boxes and 1 small box.
We were also going to use simones box, but as i do not have the mesurments as we dont really have a tapemmesure in the Drama Department i will be taking different mesurements. Also the design for the boxes had technicly changed as it will now have a chipboard top, 3 supports made of pine or chipboard and the shell will be covered with 3mm mdf, to save money.
Also we (Lisa, Jorday and I) had a indervidual production meeting this week, it was from this meeting that we worked out that the boxes will be mostly 3 big and 1 small, big for Ketu’s Memory, Alex Memory, Sophie Memory, and probaly Nia’s Memory aswell. We also spoke about the place of bamboo sticks, and we sort of talked of having them on the side with the pannels.
Cooper and I also had a breife meeting/chat about the bamboo sticks and he surgested that mabey we should have them built into the “ARC” and to have the small one horizontally and the large one verticly, creating a sort of box pattern on the wall. The only problem with this is that it may be hard with the “ARC”, as it all depends on the angle we choose. WHAT DO THE CLASS THINK???
AUDIO
OK Audio has become more into focus this week, I spent my time this week actually going through the script and even though we are not really using sound affects I thought it would be wise to go through and to highlight the noises or affects that the cast will be having to ceate. These noises vary from wind to the to a subway, or the “tube”. I know it does not sound like alot, but it actually is a hard process as I have the vison or soundscape in my head and it’s so hard to make that exact copy of what I hear and what we are actaually able to make.
I also spent time trying to find a certain track for each person in the show. Alex’s song/theam, for the strong want of another word has a few option, 1, one of the tracks from Josh’s CD,
2, French based Orchestral, such as of “Alegria”
                                                      3, ‘Natural Anthem’ by T.P.S
Nia’s song/theam may be 1, one of the tracks from Josh’s CD
                                             2, still to be confirmed
Sophie’s song/theam may be 1, one of the tracks from Josh’s CD
2, classical based, such as Ave Maria(just example)
                                                   3, ‘Sleeping In’ T.P.S
Ketu’s song/theam may be 1, track 2 from Josh’s CD
 2, ‘Natural Anthem’ T.P.S
 3, ‘Grassland Chant’ T.L.K
I will also add an updated list of songs up for you all to have a look at, and will bring some cd’s into for you to listen to and get your opinions for each charecter.
GENERAL
Ok in general the week worked well, my only thought were that mabey we should utalise the banboo sticks more, as we are doing a non’naturalistic play, and that also goes with the whole play, i think it has become a bit naturalistic. but apart from that I dont have much else, except i liked beths designs for costumes and her henna tattoos, and i can really see it working really well with the ideas that Teigan showed me. I think the more we colaberate ideas the better the end results will be.
OH AND Betho I loved our lesson today in the cuboard lol, it was so fun. If only i could get that phone to work so i could call ange, then it would be perfect lol.
have a good long break and do all your homework LoL.

Ok so its week 4 and i have been slow with my Blog, been so busy. OMG I have to tell you, I met Andy from Hamish and Andy. he was so cool, and he is a good musician+Megan Gale is HOT. but that enough random tangent for me, lets focus on week 4.
GENERAL
Class this week was very staggered and detached. There were so many interuptions, and still we pushed on. The production meeting was a good eye opener to see were we are all up to. the next time we have our production meeting I’m looking forward to hearing what ideas we have for lighting, The lighting team seems to be coming up with good ideas so far.
The great advantage about these production meeting is that it helps to creat development between the different stage craft, such as costume and set. To me personally that was the biggest thing that i took from the week, the development between set and costume and how we are going to have to develope the set colours with the costume team.
 SET DESIGN
set desing has sort of slowed a bit this week due to the lack of classes. I am not sure, but i hope the dramaturgy pictures help a bit, and gave some ideas to what i am using for insporaition. I also went and baught some model board to construct the set.
The main focus now is on the boxes, and what dementions they are. we need 4 boxes.
1 for Buraks boat-that can be used as the motorcycle for alex,
proberly a nother 2 to create the bed,
And another for the desk.
AUDIO
Re: audio 100
Hi Jarrod
All sounds were made by the actors, we didn’t use any recorded sound.
Best wishes
Christopher
so this week i think we came to an agree that the sounds should be made by the actor, not all audio recordings. There is still going to be sound affect, such as the beating heart, and certain songs but that will be it.
It is really good to see the actors using this and creating the mokey noises them self.
Also this week we played the songs quickly to give an idea of wat we are thinking of useing.
Thats enough for me, im so sleepy now.
Ciao for now.

Ok now this week has been just a blur to me, i have had so much on my plate. A concerquent to this is i actually slept in class, Ahhhhhh. Well not slep but relaxed, coz i was still awear of what was happening. Anyway here goes this week.
Set Design
Ok well some of you may know that i actually sent some emails away to Christopher Heimann a few weeks ago, regarding the original production of ‘100′. This is what he replied with
“Thank you for your email and your interest in our work.
The set design of 100 was very minimal: 4 wooden boxes of different sizes to sit on and a bunch of bamboo sticks as props for the actors to transform into the locations of the play. The bamboo sticks were only used during the memory sequences and disappeared offstage during the scenes in the void.”
This at first to me was not much of a help, but then it hit me we can do what we want with set the only requerments are the boxes and sticks. now i have been focusing on walls and floor for to long. The void is built up of nothing, only the boxes and bamboo sticks. Now i aint about to change what i have already designed, I am actually happy with my design, but it just made me realise that the focus for ‘100 should be basic and the rest of the set is made from the charecters. I have known this since the begining, but it only just hit me how important it is. Take Ketu’s memory the set for that is not made by walls, but by people and acting. The true set are the actors.
Saying that Tasha and myself did have another of our meetinsg this week, and i really liked her ideas put forward, especially teh idea of teh curved back wall. I think that this week will produce the final set, and we will have it ready for teh class by next monday or so.
Audio
Ok now audio has become a main focus of my time. I have sent away to Christopher Heimann
just to find out what was used in the original 100. I have also listed to the cd that was given to me by josh and i think almost all 9 songs on it can be used in our ‘100′, weather it be as the audience enrte or to Nicks memory. I would like to add one additional song, called ‘When the world ends’
When the world ends
Collect your things
Youre coming with me
When the world ends
You tuckle up yourself with me
Watch it as the stars disappear to nothing
The day the world is over
Well be lying in bed
Im gonna rock you like a baby when the cities fall
We will rise as the buildings crumble
Float there and watch it all
Amidst the burning, well be churning
You know, love will be our wings
The passion rises up from the ashes
When the world ends
When the world ends
Youre gonna come with me
Were going to be crazy
Like a river bends
Were going to float
Through the criss cross of the mountains
Watch them fade to nothing
When the world ends
You know thats whats happening now
Im going to be there with you somehow, oh…
Im going to tie you up like a baby in a carriage car
Your legs wont work cause you want me so
You just lie spread to the wall
The love you got is surely
All the love that I would ever need
Im going to take you by my side
And love you tall, til the world ends
Oh, but dont you worry about a thing
No, cause I got you here with me
Dont you worry about a
Just you and me
Floating through the empty, empty
Just you and me
Oh, graces
Oh, grace
Oh, when the world ends
Well be burning one
When the world ends
Well be sweet makin love
Oh, you know when the world ends
Im going to take you aside and say
Lets watch it fade away, fade away
And the worlds done
Ours just begun
Its done
Ours just begun
Were gonna dive into the emptiness
Well be swimming
Im going to walk you through the pathless roads
Im going to take you to the top of the mountain thats no longer there
Im going to take you to bed and love you, I swear
Like the end is here
Im going to take you up to
Im going to take you down on you
Im going to hold you like an angel, angel
Im going to love you
Im going to love you
When the world ends
Im going to hold you
When the world is over
Well just be beginning…
I really think it conects to most of teh charectsers, it has connections to Ketu, Alex and Nia. I really hope the class likes it.
The other thing with audio is the question do we use sound affects or do we make teh sound ourselves????
I will leave you thinking on that.
Genral STUFF
Ok well the class has been great this week except for problems caused from vineblog. Vineblogs is a place were we can express our ideas, and vision. All that is said on it is to help, and to creat a greater play. Experssion of self is only as great as expression of others. That is my new philosophy. Anyway this week i can really see the show coming together. Gemmas work on sophie intriegzs me, i wanna see were she takes her. She has such a journey that she could go on and i think if she keeps up this pace we will be in for a great shophie. I am also looking forward to the guide. So everyone knows LISA IS A BARBIE DOLL, ay least thats what i think. I watch her and i think of the air hostest barbie from Toystory, Not the one from Mr Fiens plain trip(at least qantas leaves a smile on there customers face). I think with more development adn distinction between her charecters it will really work. She will be great.
I am really sad at betho aswell, i spoke to her and she says she CBF with her costume design coz the class has already choosen what they want. I want betho to show us what she wants at her meeting and then we can talk as a class about it.
Have a great week all, and comment back.

So another week is over and theatre is still rolling along. I am so pleased with myself this week for two reasons, firstly I took notes from all of the lessons, and secondly I think we have a definite set. It was amazing what one small trip to the Mechanics Institute Preforming Arts Centre can do to the thought you have in your head. This week I have decided to spill my guts in a ordered way, in three sections and instead of telling you what happened each day I am sort of just going to tell you all what is in my head on reflecting back over the week. My three section are 1) set design, 2) Audio and 3) general evaluation of how all is going
SET DESIGN… SO FAR
Set Concept One- RUBBISH NOW
I had this vision of a set with two staggered walls entering from prompt side of the stage (have a look at the diagram in will bring to class) I thought that both of them could be painted grey. It gave us the entrances we needed plus also gave the concept of hidden layers. I was thinking that we could use this as a way to make the audience questions how many layers there were and therefore question how big is the void. But now I think that concept two is the go ahead.
Set Concept Two-CLOSER TO CORRECT
Ok well the current set design I think I would like to work with is very simple, and similar to the Steven Dawson play the Complete Idiots Guide to Pornography. It has two walls and a back drop that is all. The walls are angled back to a central point, and are painted grey. Both walls are painted the same as the floor and backdrop. The purpose of this is to create an illusion of never ending depth and a lack of dimension to the void.  We also need to have 4 boxes, so far the problem whit the these boxes is there dimensions. It  was thought that they could be stacked on top of each other and used as a desk, but that idea has been scrapped due to Mr. coopers directing. The main reasons why this set won out is that it’s simple, basic and it should not cost too much money to construct furthermore keeping the budget as low as possible. It also fits in all of the ideas that Tasha and I had discussed. I know some people suggested that we should have a black void, as it’s what we can associate with death and the after life, there are two reasons why I don’t think that concept would work. 1) Black absorbs light, simple as that black absorbs light and this then makes it to hard for the lighting team to light, and in general makes it just overall harder. And 2) I DO NOT WANT THIS FEEL. Instead I want the feel of an industrial building or grey brick wall. The logic I have behind this is that in time we will look back on the industrial world we have created and it will become old abandoned, obsolete and forgotten. This is the feel I want to create for the set. It ties in on my thoughts on death, that no matter who knows us, or who we know in the end we will end up forgotten.I want to take this away from what was originally like and make it our own, lets create from a blank canvas and try not to use to much of what other companies have done in there productions of ‘100’
AUDIO… SO FAR
Ok so far in audio this week Josh and myself had our first talk on what we see audio being. We both agree that the show should start with one set piece of music and this one song is repeated throughout the show. Cooper suggested that we fade the music down as the lights come up. We also thought that we should use a sort of African drum theme for Ketu.
My only problem now is that I am not sure if the music we use is going to be classically based, chill-out techno with violins and pianos or go for cheesy elevator music feel. HEY CLASS WHAT DO YOU THINK?????
GENRAL
Ok so we are now into the second week and unfortunately we are running behind. So… I know after reading some other blogs that those who have posted there blogs feel that this is due to over blocking and over directing, but I am the opposite. Now I know from being in other production that I would rather over block and get a good concept rather than just flying over the scrip and blocking it really quickly. I think to do that would be asking too much of the class. Many forget we are KIDS not PROFESIONAL ACTORS. It also appears that Burak has done an amazing week of acting I feel that he stands out above the rest. Now I don’t mean to offend but, it may be because he isn’t criticising and questioning every decision that is being said by Mr C, but instead is just listening and experimenting with his character, on the other hands others seem to put forward ideas about what they think should be done rather than listening and experimenting with there own character. I think it is important to build up now rather than later. It is has been suggested to do some character building exercise, and that is a great idea but that should be done after rehearsal, that is up to each actor and when we have a class of almost 10 and only 4 actors the majority would not need to develop characters.
I also know others in the class have said that the audience are being to fussy by telling them to try this and that, but that is what the class is about being able to tell each other what we think and to experiment from other suggestions. I think that the main problem is that it takes us to long to get into the directing and running of things. So for those who read my blog in class I put forward the idea of actors first getting changed and the rest of us clearing the area and setting the stage so that we can start straight away.
I think its great that Beth has started her concept design for each of the character, but I feel that there are other options. I really like the idea of the guide being in a suit, but I also have been thinking about the costumes and make up, I am not sure what other think the other character should be completely different and bland and basic. I like the idea of white cotton clothes, like an
India funeral. The thought behind this is that it is pure both religiously but spiritually.
And one last thing Josh RELAX, I watch you in class and you look so tense your doing a good job, so don’t stress. Your character sounds like he is confidence and assured step into that role and become your character. I know you can do it, you have a lot of potential and talent.
P.S ERIKA You ROCK, I am looking over my notes and I found the one I wrote about your crazy question about the Drums HAHAHAH. ERIKA
UR GREAT

The first week is over, and what a week it has been. Theatre has been a god send as it is one of the few classes we can relax, talk and just have a bit of fun. Fun from now on does not exist in the class.
100 has began and it is time to put all our thoughts and effort into that. Through the week we started our development of what we wish to achieve with 100, the three main tasks that we undertook were:Â
Recode the schedule and plan for the rest of the productions. This task was easy, all it meant was that we all sat down and as a group wrote in the days of our productions, FAME and 100. I think the closer the dates get the more important this early planing will be.Â
The second task was:Â
Budget The scariest word in the world, or maybe just our class. to the rest of the world it is such a simple word, but with the grand fromage it means “ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh” I think that our draft budget so far maybe a bit over estimated, but that is a good thing. It means that the more money we make to cover a over quoted budget the closer we get to breaking even on the show.Â
And the third task, I am so sick of the word task, it makes it sound like these are chores, and they are more than that they are fun(but that was a tangent LoL, I was drawn to tangent city, the lights are so much brighter there)Â
The final “task” was:Â
A cold reading. OMG 100 was amazing, I can’t believe we ever not wanted to do it (if that makes sense). Josh has a lot of potential and so does Lisa, for a cold read they were both so good. I think that the role of the native jungle person was made for Burak (NOOOOOO) it was like the character and him were the same person. The other amazing thing about the play is that it is going to test the class so much. The use of the bamboo sticks and the orange are hard to develop, but that the greatest challenge of theatre being pushed beyond who you are and what you can do into another realm. Just like Konstantin Stanislavski’s “magical if” and all of his other techniques. Suddenly year 11 Theatre is making sense.
And my last note goes out to Tasha, the set design for our original concept I have this vision, I am not sure why, but of grey concrete walls. I know it’s strange but I have read the scrip over and over and I think that the more bland and colourless we make it the more powerful the concept of a void become. I don’t want to have a void as a huge whit space or a black space. When I think of the void I have this image of the tunnel in GATTACA and of a huge industrial building, symbolic of the things that are now past us, forgotten, obsolete. All the things that the characters will become, forgotten memoriesÂ
P.S welcome to the gang Josh, Gemma, Teigan and Jordan, I hope you have a good time in the class, it hectic and fast passed, but so cool to be in.Â

Ok so here it is a new musical for a new year.
Fame is Aitken Colleges 2007 musical and like all new things I am scarred and yet in a strange way ever so excited. The thought of being up on the stage again makes me happy, and the fact that the cast list is good and the high expectations that the director will have only leads to the conclusion that the production will be above anything we have done before. Although I missed the first rehearsell I am sure that it will not hinder me to much, as the rehersals have only just began.
Fame is not the only musical or stage production that I hope to be part of this year, no. even though we are less than a month into the year I have been lucky enough to send off for information for two other productions, The Victorian Operas production of the operatic addaptation of Hanns Christian Andersons the Snow Queen. If all go’s well then an adition for Into The Woods looks like a go.
I will keep this Blog uptodate with all of my theatre ongoing
